It was a windy day in Stratford yesterday. The wind turbine debate dominated the political life of the city. Perth-Wellington MPP John Wilkinson held a press conference at the Stratford General Hospital to defend his government’s Green Energy Policies. He says the concerns about reduced property values caused by wind turbines are baseless. John Laforet with Wind Concerns Ontario disagrees. He addressed a rally of about 150 people outside of Wilkinson’s campaign office last night in Stratford. He says it’s documented that property values fall between 20 and 40 per cent within five kilometers of wind turbines. The protest was organized by Wind Concerns Ontario, a grassroots movement calling for a moratorium on wind turbine development until further health studies are conducted.
